The panel of guest speakers shared personal insights on how their roles intersect with science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and business. From applying technical knowledge in materials testing to leveraging data in supply chain management, panelists emphasized the wide-ranging career paths that STEM supports across the built environment.

Throughout the discussion, students asked thoughtful questions that allowed the panel to dive deeper into their experiences. Speakers described how every role in the industry, from engineering and quality assurance to marketing and project management, relies on STEM principles and problem-solving skills. They explained that while technical knowledge is critical, adaptability, teamwork, communication, and leadership are equally important traits for long-term success. The conversation also highlighted opportunities for growth and entrepreneurship, with panelists affirming that the concrete industry offers clear pathways from entry-level positions to business ownership.

Attendees explored common misconceptions about the field, with panelists noting that careers in concrete extend far beyond manual labor to include advanced technology, sustainability, innovation, and management. They also shed light on roles that are essential yet often overlooked, such as quality control technicians, supply chain managers, and logistics coordinators—positions that are crucial to keeping the industry moving forward.

The event underscored the vital role of concrete in building communities and showcased the diverse opportunities awaiting the next generation of talent. By connecting students with professionals and highlighting the overlap of STEM and business in real-world careers, the Concrete Career Panel offered a meaningful look at the future of the industry.
