The most recent Triangle CEC brought together CRMCA members for an important conversation centered on the benefits of political engagement and its impact on the concrete industry. The session featured special guest speaker Susan Vick, CRMCA’s North Carolina lobbyist, who shared her deep expertise on advocacy and legislative strategy.
Susan emphasized that political engagement is not just a responsibility but a strategic advantage for our industry. She highlighted how active participation in the political process can influence how the ready mixed concrete industry is perceived by policymakers and the public. By proactively educating legislators about our industry’s value and challenges, members can help shape favorable policies and regulations.
A key takeaway from Susan’s presentation was the importance of relationship-building with local and state lawmakers. She encouraged members to view legislators as partners and to engage with them regularly—not just when issues arise. These relationships can open doors for meaningful dialogue and long-term policy support.
Susan also spoke on the power of coalition building, stressing that when CRMCA members unite their voices, they can effectively advocate for shared priorities and strengthen their collective impact. By working together, members can promote a stronger, more informed legislative environment that benefits the entire industry.
CRMCA thanks Susan Vick for her insightful presentation and encourages all members to stay engaged in advocacy efforts. Political involvement is vital to our continued success and growth across the Carolinas.
