CEC meetings were held in February, May and August along with the Greenville Drive “Take me out to the Ballgame” outing in July, the Charleston Harbor Cruise and the Grand Strand Oyster Roast in October.
CRMCA education opportunities included NRMCA Level 2 classes in February; BWS Value & Innovation Seminar in March; ICF Installer Basics Course in April, NRMCA Pervious Concrete Technician Certification classes in June and October; CCSP Module I in October and Module II in December.
Both North Carolina and South Carolina Legislative Committees held Concrete Days with great participation. Both state PACs worked continually throughout the year to raise $28,000 for the PAC’s and distributed $39,000 to candidates.
The 2018 Mixer Driver Rodeo was held at Wayne Brothers, Inc. and brought mixer drivers from both states together to compete for Best of the Best bragging rights. First place winners for 2018 were Shannon Tapp of Carolina Sunrock, NC Winner and Joey Melton of Thomas Concrete, Inc. SC Winner.
The 2018 CRMCA Summer Convention drew record numbers to the beautiful Omni Grove Park Inn for dynamic education on key issues, leadership development, team collaboration and a whole lot of fun! Tom Chandler and George Turner were the 2018 inductees for the CRMCA Concrete Hall of Fame.
The annual CRMCA Sporting Clays Tournament was held in October at Drake Landing in Fuquay-Varina. Fourteen teams competed for this year’s title. This years winning team consisted of Trevor Thomas of Holcim (US) Inc. and Michael and Jimmy Gurley of Concept Masonry.
At the 2018 CRMCA Fall Workshop 200+ industry professionals were brought together for 2 packed days of education, networking and recognition. This year we welcomed a new sponsorship opportunity through our Vendor Displays. The 2018 Mixer Rodeo Participants were recognized. Joseph “Doc” Brown of American Concrete & Precast, LLC was awarded the 2018 CRMCA Safe Concrete Delivery Professional of the Year Award and Moses “Ray” Wilson of Concrete Supply Co. was awarded the 2018 CRMCA Concrete Delivery Professional Lifetime Achievement Award. At the annual meeting, officers and directors for the upcoming year were elected.
