The Carolinas Ready Mixed Concrete Association recently gathered in Asheville, North Carolina, to celebrate a remarkable milestone: 75 years of serving, advancing, and strengthening the ready mixed concrete industry across the Carolinas. Thanks to the support of our members, attendees, speakers, and sponsors, the 2026 CRMCA Summer Convention was a tremendous success and a fitting tribute to the association’s rich history and promising future.
The celebration began Sunday evening with a black-tie anniversary event honoring CRMCA’s past, present, and future. Members and industry leaders reflected on the people, partnerships, and achievements that have shaped the association since 1951 while looking ahead to the opportunities that will define the next 75 years.
Monday’s educational programming featured thought-provoking discussions focused on resilience, leadership, safety, benchmarking, and advocacy. Brian Keens shared insights on The Road to Recovery Post-Helene, highlighting the incredible efforts of NCDOT and industry partners in restoring critical infrastructure. A leadership panel featuring McMillan Pazdan Smith, Turner Construction, and Pathways explored how project team integration and collaboration create competitive advantages while aligning owner priorities with project outcomes. Additional sessions included David Lynn’s presentation on building workplace safety into organizational culture, Bob Capasso’s deep dive into industry benchmarking, and a legislative update from NRMCA’s Andrew Tyrrell.
Throughout the educational sessions, members also heard a strong call to action surrounding CRMCA’s PAC efforts and the importance of industry engagement in advocacy. The event additionally marked the launch of CRMCA’s new Industry Innovations Series, designed to recognize leadership through innovation and celebrate the companies, teams, and individuals driving meaningful progress across the ready mixed concrete industry. Recipients will be recognized at CRMCA’s Fall Workshop.
The convention experience extended beyond the classroom with a Sip & Stroll through downtown Asheville, an Emerging Leaders networking event, and the Presidential Social honoring CRMCA’s past presidents for their service and leadership.
The celebration concluded Tuesday with the annual Concrete Classic Golf Tournament, proudly sponsored by S&W Ready Mixed Concrete, followed by a festive Boot Scoot & Boogie celebration that brought attendees together one final time.
CRMCA extends its sincere appreciation to our Presenting Sponsor, Sika, whose support helped make this milestone celebration possible. We also thank our Summer Convention sponsors, speakers, and attendees for their continued commitment to the industry and to the success of this event.
As CRMCA enters its next chapter, we remain focused on advancing education, advocacy, innovation, and collaboration while continuing to serve as the voice of the ready mixed concrete industry throughout the Carolinas. Cheers to the next 75 years!
