Last week’s CEC was an education-focused event in Wilmington, NC, centered on promoting resilient construction practices utilizing concrete. Hosted in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and attended by Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo, the event emphasized the importance of sustainable, durable building methods in the face of increasing coastal risks. Key discussions focused on integrating resilience into local building codes and encouraging community-wide adoption of procuring materials keeping foresight in mind.
The second event was a CRMCA Technical Committee meeting that brought together industry leaders to address strategic priorities for the concrete sector. The committee focused on enhancing engagement with the specifying community, emphasizing the importance of education and communication to ensure accurate and innovative use of concrete materials. Additionally, the group initiated a framework for succession planning to ensure long-term industry leadership and knowledge transfer. These efforts reflect a proactive approach to strengthening the concrete industry’s future through strategic alignment and workforce development.
Together, both events showcased forward-thinking leadership, underscoring the construction industry’s commitment to resilience, collaboration, and sustainable growth.
