Thomas Concrete, Inc. is proud to honor one of its finest, Mike Edwards, Plant Manager of the Powdersville Plant, who was recognized as the South Carolina Plant Manager of the Year at the CRMCA Fall Workshop in Charlotte, NC. With more than two decades of service and ten years leading the Powdersville team, Mike’s dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence make him a standout within our industry.

A Leader Who Puts the Company and His People First

Since joining Thomas Concrete 21 years ago, Mike has consistently demonstrated a company first mentality. As Plant Manager, he leads with steady determination and a focus on doing whatever it takes to get the job done right. When the Powdersville plant was remodeled into a wet batch facility in 2020, Mike guided his team through the transition with focus and discipline. Since then, the plant has delivered nearly 550,000 yards of concrete, an achievement that reflects both operational strength and his leadership.

What sets Mike apart is his willingness to go above and beyond. Whether he is staying late, arriving early, or stepping in to support sister plants, Mike is always ready to help. His team knows he will never ask them to do something he isn’t willing to do himself.

Safety, Quality, and Team Care at the Core

Mike’s commitment to safety is unwavering. He consistently puts the wellbeing of his teammates first and ensures every shift is grounded in safe, proper procedures. His dedication to quality is equally strong, and he works hard to ensure each customer receives a product that reflects the pride of his team and the standards of Thomas Concrete.

Mike is also known for being incredibly supportive of his crew. His employees know they can come to him anytime they need guidance or help navigating a challenge. His open approach has shaped a strong, motivated, and unified team culture at Powdersville.

A Story That Says It All

One story that highlights Mike’s leadership took place about four years ago during a 9 p.m. bridge deck pour. Another plant experienced operational issues, threatening to delay the project. Mike received a call requesting help, and without hesitation he responded with “I’m on the way.” He didn’t ask questions or hesitate. He simply stepped in because it was what needed to be done. His quick action helped keep the pour on track and demonstrated his deep commitment to his team and customers.

The Epitome of Team Thomas

Mike Edwards is more than a Plant Manager. He is a leader, a mentor, and a champion for his team. His influence stretches far beyond Powdersville and positively impacts coworkers, customers, and the broader Thomas Concrete community.

We are proud to recognize Mike as the South Carolina Plant Manager of the Year and extend our congratulations on this well deserved honor at the CRMCA Fall Workshop in Charlotte.
