The second cohort of Emerging Leaders with the Carolinas Ready Mixed Concrete Association (CRMCA) recently completed another valuable step in their professional development journey. This session focused on Human Resources in the Workplace, providing participants with critical insights into effective people management, compliance, team dynamics, and communication strategies. Through interactive training sessions and real-world case studies, the group explored the evolving role of HR in fostering a healthy, productive, and legally compliant work environment. The training emphasized the importance of leadership in shaping workplace culture and empowering teams—a crucial skill set for emerging professionals in the ready mixed concrete industry.
In addition to the HR training, the cohort had the unique opportunity to go behind the scenes at Carolina Sunrock’s quarry operations.

The visit offered a first-hand look at the impressive scale and complexity of quarry production, showcasing everything from raw material extraction to processing and logistics. Participants observed best practices in safety, environmental stewardship, and operational efficiency, gaining a deeper appreciation for the critical role quarries play in the supply chain.
The experience at Carolina Sunrock not only complemented the HR training by highlighting the importance of people and process working in harmony but also inspired a greater understanding of the industry’s core operations. Together, the training and site visit exemplified CRMCA’s commitment to developing well-rounded, knowledgeable leaders equipped to shape the future of the concrete industry.
