Committees

handshake.gifBelow is a brief description of each of our Committees. CRMCA members are welcome to join and participate in all CRMCA Committees listed below. To find out more or to apply for Committee membership please contact us directly by clicking here.

Concrete Education Council (CEC) Chapters
The CRMCA currently has 9 local CEC Chapters in North and South Carolina that meet on a monthly basis. The Chapters are as follows: South Carolina -Piedmont; Midlands; Grandstrand; and Low Country; North Carolina - Triangle; East Carolina; Charlotte-Metrolina; Sand Hills; and West Carolina. Environmental Committee
The Environmental Committee meets on a quarterly basis at the CRMCA Headquarters. The Committee sponsors CRMCA Environmental Forums each year in North and South Carolina as well as the Environmental Excellence and Environmental Improvement Awards. Representatives of this Committee meet on a regular basis with members of the North Carolina Department of Natural Resources (NCDENR) as well as members of the South Carolina Department of Health & Environmental Control (SCDHEC).

North Carolina Legislative Committee
The North Carolina Legislative Committee is charged with monitoring proposed legislation in North Carolina to identify legislation which may impact the concrete industry. The Committee retains Mac Boxley of Boxley, Bolton and Garber to assist with their efforts. The committee meets at the discretion of its Chair.

Program and Planning Committee
The Program and Planning Committee meets twice a year to plan the yearly Convention and Fall Workshop. The committee membership is comprised of the Chairs of all standing CRMCA committees and the CRMCA Executive Vice president, William Arent. CRMCA members are encouraged to submit topics and or speakers to the Committee for program consideration at the annual Fall Workshop or Summer Convention.

Safety and Human Resources Committee
The Safety and Human Resources Committee meets on the first Wednesday of every other month at CRMCA Headquarters. This Committee sponsors the annual Mixer Driver Lifetime Achievement Award, the annual Driver of the Year Award and the annual Plant Safety Awards. The committee also produces the annual Wage and Benefit survey.

South Carolina Legislative Committee
The South Carolina Legislative Committee is charged with monitoring proposed legislation in South Carolina to identify legislation which may impact the concrete industry. The Committee retains Ron Joye as a lobbyist to assist with their efforts. The committee meets at the discretion of its Chair.The committee sponsors an annual Legislative Reception in Columbia.

Technical Committee
The Technical Committee meets quarterly at CRMCA Headquarters. Representatives of this Committee meet on a regular basis with both the SCDOT and NCDOT to discuss issues of mutual concern. The Committee also addresses technical concerns of the membership and provides technical articles for the CRMCA quarterly newsletter.

Fleet Maintenance Committee
The Fleet Maintenance Committee meets quarterly at CRMCA Headquarters. Meetings are scheduled on the same day as the Plant Maintenance Committee meetings to allow members to attend both if they so desire. The committee invites a speaker to each of its meeting to present a topic of interest. Past presentations have included the new specifications for diesel engines, new lubricants on the market, and alternative fuels. The committee sponsors the Annual CRMCA Mixer Driver Championship.

Plant Maintenance Committee
The Plant Maintenance Committee meets quarterly at CRMCA Headquarters. Meetings are scheduled on the same day as the Fleet Maintenance Committee meetings to allow members to attend both if they so desire. The committee invites a speaker to each of its meeting to present a topic of interest. Past presentations have included aggregate bin design, conveyor belts and air dryers and compressor components.
